Pakistan was under much scrutiny after Osama bin Laden was found safely living in Abbottabad, Pakistan just one mile from a Pakistan military academy and 60 miles of the capital city Islamabad in May 2011. Many wonder how Bin Laden was able to live there peacefully for what some suspect was five years without the Pakistani military having any know of his where-abouts.

Pakistan is the second largest recipient of US Foreign Aid. Since 2002, the US has provided $20.7 billion dollars in aid to Pakistan. Because of this Pakistan is often under scrutiny for use of foreign aid monies, with most going to the country's military. Many wonder how much may secretly go to aiding Al Qaeda leaders and terrorist organizers, or how much the government protects terrorist organizers and allows them to find refuge in Pakistan's border.

One CNN news article reads:

"There are signs everywhere that the Pakistani military has been infiltrated by radical Islamists who view the Taliban as their natural allies and the United States and the west as their natural enemies."

Pakistan's President, Asif Ali Zardari, has denied any Pakistani support of Bin Laden and called the accusations, "baseless speculations."
