Remember that the tattoo will be with you for the rest of your life (unless you have some very costly and painful treatment to remove it).
You may think it's cool to have "Lady Gaga" or your current boy/girlfriend's name tattoo-ed wherever, but think about in forty year's time.
If you still want to go ahead, try a henna tattooo first. I think they last about two or three weeks. When it begins to fade, go over it again and see how long it takes before you get bored with it!
