No God is not violent. The God of the Old Testament is the same God of today. He loves us all but He is a jealous God. After all He did create everything including you and me. He wants nothing but good for us but like any good father he will correct us when we are wrong. He loved us so much that He let His own son be sacraficed so that through our belief and acceptance of Jesus as our savior we may not be punished by spending eternity in hell. That is a loving God. There have been times that He has shown His wrath but think of it this way. If someone gave you life, everything that you need, loved you and cared for you and then they professed that you don't exist and that you have never done anything for them, how would you feel? God wants our love. God loves you. Really.
The Old Testament from the Holy Bible relates specifically to Jewish scripture, and many of the things in the New Testament were prophesied about in Jewish scripture. Muslim scripture does not relate to either Jewish or Christian scripture because Jewish and Christian scripture are from God.
Jesus was the turning point in the Bible where God basically became less militant. In the old testament, God was violent, destructive, and hateful. A majority of the 2 million people God killed in the Bible, were in the Old testament. So once, Jesus came and asked God to forgive us, He became the loving God we think of today.
Catholic AnswerThe Church needs Tradition because that is what Our Blessed Lord gave Her. She needs Scripture because She inherited the Old Testament from the Jews, ultimately from God, and Tradition gave Her the New Testament. They are both the Word of God, which means that, in a very real sense, they are Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ. But in the end, Tradition (with a captial "T") is what God gave us, all Scripture came out of Tradition and the New Testament expressly tells us that we must abide by Tradition and Scripture.
While direct communication from God to individuals may not be as prevalent in the New Testament as in the Old Testament, it is believed that God continues to communicate with people through scripture, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The New Testament emphasizes a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ as a way for believers to access God's guidance and wisdom.
God's healing of the sick is mentioned in Exodus 15:26.
The same God and some of the same scripture. Christian people have the Old Testament as part but not all of Christian scripture. The Jews also have the Old Testament, but they call it the Tanakh. Christians also obviously have the New Testament as well.
I don't think so. If Mammon is a god, it is not mentioned in Scripture. BUT mammon is mentioned in the New Testament and it means "riches" or "wealth". Some people idolize riches and wealth and this is idolatry and is as bad a worshipping a false god. See Matthew 6:24
The Bible is a collection of documents assembled over a thousand years. The Old Testament is Jewish scripture and the New Testament is from the times of Jesus and his Apostles and Disciples. Both Old and New were inspired by God. Unlike the scripture of the Baha'i Faith, no part of the Bible was written by the Manifestation or Messenger of God.
God's "Reaching out" was the sending of his son in human form to share human life and show us how life should be lived. This was foretold in the Old Testament. I have made a link below which will detail where in the Old Testament God's "reaching out" is foretold.
God has no father.God has existed eternally as He is. Of course, we know that Christ is also God, and is referred to as God's Son as also the Holy Spirit is God. One God, three divine persons (along with the Holy Spirit they make up what is called the trinity). But there is no old testament scripture of God having a father.
Mormons are Christians. They worship God and Jesus, and are considered part of the Protestant tradition. They believe that the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and New Testament are sacred scripture. But they also believe their own bible, the Book of Mormon, is sacred scripture too.
Think on scripture pick it apart mentally and God will give new revelation
