Will the force applied to lift a brick reduce if you use pulleys?

yes, pulley will help IF not the if YOU USE COMBINE TWO OR MORE PULLEYS. Yes, using a pulley or a system of pulleys will reduce the force needed to lift a brick (or anything). HOWEVER the distance that the rope (or whatever effects the pulley system) has to now travel further so that the energy required to lift the brick through an equal height is always the same.

More information of uses of pulley?

Pulley systems are used in the real world to lift large masses onto tall heights. You might have seen the workers repairing the roof of a house and using the pulley system to lift their tools or materials to the roof. A pulley is an example of a simple machine. The pulley system consists of one or more pulleys and a rope or a cable. The number of pulleys used may increase or decrease the mechanical advantage of the system. Generally, the higher the mechanical advantage is, the easier it is to lift the object that is being lifted.Overall, no matter how easy it is to use the pulley system, the system itself is not very efficient due to the force of friction. For example, one has to pull two meters of rope of cable through the pulleys in order to lift an object one meter. The applet below illustrates just that. Select the number of pulleys and drag the mouse to see the inefficiency of the system.

Are there examples of pulleys in your house?

Pulley belongs to one of the class of Simple machines They are two types of pulleys 1. Fixed pulleys 2. Movable pulleys. Examples Fixed pulley : flag poles, sail boats, simple cranes, curtains in theatres, conveyor belt, simple line elevators Examples Movable pulley : Cranes , amusement park rides , elevators and cable cars using movable pulleys.

Why does a fixed pulley have a mechanical advantage of one and a movable pulley has a mechanical advantage of two?

we find mechanical advantage of pulley by using principle of lever. according to this moment of effort is equal to moment of moment of load. As in this case effort arm is equal to load arm. so mechanical advantage is equal to one. but we know we can never finish friction between rope used and pulley so mechanical advantage is less than one

Does a machine magnify the force that you exert?

Absolutely. four of the most basic machines do exactly that. A lever increases the force you exert by how close the fulcrum is to the object being move, and how far the applied force is away from the fulcrum. A screw transfers rotational force (torque) to a lifting force, and increases that force based on the pitch of the threads. A wedge increases lifting force based upon the pitch of the wedge from horizontal. A pulley, when using more than one, will increase the applied force, on an order of magnitude equal to the number of pulleys used. **Note: the total work applied equals the total work transmitted less friction. The force applied times the acceleration equals the work, the machines reduce the acceleration to increase the force transmitted.

What does a pulley cause?

When used appropriately, a pulley can be used to reduce the amount of force needed to move an object. By using multiple pulleys, one can change the direction that force needs to be applied to move an object, as well as reducing the amount of force that is necessary through mechanical advantage.

What is one disadvantage of using pulleys?

A pulley uses leverage to displace the pressure of an object, making said object easier to lift

Does the force used to lift an object using a single pulley alter depending on the size of the pulley?

no

What is important about a pulley?

Pulleys make lifting things easier. example: If you want to lift 100kg you don't want to lift it with your hands, so you use a pulley. The best choice would be to use a pulley with 4 wheels. Using this would make the effort to lift the 100kg about 75% easier. So lifting the 100 kg with a pulley would make the object be about 25 kg. That is why pulleys are important.

How do you replace deck belt for a L 120 automatic?

I'm sure your talking about a John Deere. Draw a picture of the position of the pulleys. Have someone help you, using a piece of 2x4 lumber force the spring loaded tension pulley toward the front of the deck and hold it this will give you slack. Then you can remove the belt off the pulleys on the deck. When replacing the belt put it over each pulley on the deck and force the tension pulley foward. Then start the belt in the groove on the drive pulley and using a pipe wrench with the jaws on the inside and outside of the pulley, while holding the belt in place rotate the pulley the belt will drop into the groove

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a pulley?

Advantages - a pulley allows you to apply force in any direction, not just the one in which the force is to applied. Multiple pulleys yield a mechanical advantage that can allow the lifting of heavy weights. Disadvantages - the pulley has to be securely anchored to support the mass being acted on, and the rope has to be strong and durable. A wheeled pulley needs to rotate smoothly, and a sliding (e.g. wooden) pulley should not abrade the rope. Also, the more pulleys you use, the more rope you need. You need to consider the strength of the pulley's anchorage. If you try to raise a 40 lb load using a rope over a single pulley hung from the roof with the 2 legs of the rope parallel, the force on the anchorage will be 2 x 40 = 80 lbs.

How much effort is needed to lift a 75 N weight using the pulley system?

If you are talking about a simple pulley with the pulley attached and load rope attached to the object then you will need a little more than 75N of force. Lifting an object (at a constant velocity) requires a force equal but opposite the weight of the object. With any simple machine you will need to do more work to overcome friction. If you were to use a single pulley with the pulley attached to the object then you will need a little more than 37.5 N. If you were to use a multiple pulley system then you would need to know the mechanical advantage of the pulley system.
