87+ had the 10 bolt, circle cover, 8 1/4 inch rear
97+ had the 12 bolt, stop sign ciover, 9 1/4 inch rear

i believe on v6 its on passenger side and v8 is on driver side above front axle.
It is what the rear wheels bolt to.It is what the rear wheels bolt to.
It should be located under the truck, behind the rear axle.
The vehicle speed sensor is on the top of the rear axle not the trans.
sounds like you have a bad cv axle. If it is the axle, you are looking at about $100 for the parts.
