A firebird can't "have" third gen. It either is or is not a third generation firebird, and Yes, a 1991 is a third generation.

Any size SBC engine will fit and is compatible with a 91 Firebird. A 350 engine is the most common that is used for installing in a 91 Firebird.
well, i have a '91 that came with the original 305, but after slinging a rod in it, i installed a 350. but i am told you can make it into a 383
The cable is manual drive on a 1991.It plugs directly in the back of the speedometer.
