Earthquakes are related to plate movements as it is caused by them.

Earthquakes can happen, but on small scales, the country does not lie on a tectonic plate, so they will not occur
Leo Jacobus Krige has written: 'Earthquakes in South Africa' -- subject(s): Earthquakes
The frequency of earthquakes depends on the location. in Japan, earthquakes occur 3 times a month, and in the Sahara in Africa they occur once in five years..
The path of the subducting tectonic plate
There are faultlines along the bottom of the Levant coastline, the Red Sea, and the Olduvai Gorge. Earthquakes happen in those areas. There are no significant volcanoes in the Middle East or Africa.
Well earthquakes can happen in alot of different places such as Africa but the reason e=why they happen is because the earth is being shaken which causes it to happen
Earthquakes to a large size do not "occur" on the African continent due to there being no plate boundries running through it. This is as a result of earthquakes resulting from two plate boundries colliding, causing tension which is soon released; an earthquake. However earthquakes of smaller sizes can be seen distrubuted in Africa, especially the Eastern side. It would be impossible to say how often they take place due to earthquakes being totally unpredictable but ones of any size to comment on happen maybe a few times a year whereas smaller ones that are only picked up my seismographs can be number in their hundreds or thousands.
