Chrome the browser, yes as it's just another browser like IE or Firefox. Chrome the operating system that has been announced but not released yet will run the internal workings of the computer, like Windows does.

I don't know why it's crashing in Firefox and Safari, but I'm having the same problem. However, if you check the FAQ you'll find Chrome isn't supported yet.
