  • Confucianism is an ancient Chinese ethic and philosophical system. There is no God, per se, in Confucianism. Confucius was and is not considered a god by his adherents. Confucianism is a socio-philosophical movement aimed at bettering society. Confucius believed in the Tao. Humans are thought to be inherently good but we need education and enlightenment to keep peace within society.
  • All they believe in is a eternel nirvana like the buddists, but hey have no name for god.
  • There really isn't a god in Confucianism. There is only the man that created it, Confucius or "Master Kong".
  • There are no gods since Confucianism is philosophical.
  • Yes there is a God in Confucianism(Ti'en aka Shangdi), however, the Confucian view of Him is more the way in which a Deist would perceive Him, rather than somebody such as a Christian or a Sikh would.

Confucianism was originally more of a philosophy than a religion. Confucius' aim was to teach government leaders to be moral so that they would better lead the people. If the leaders were moral and upright "gentlemen," then the people would follow their example, and the whole nation would flourish.

Confucius specifically avoided talking about spiritual things. He focused on what people could do to better their lives here and now. Because of this, Confucianism does not teach about any kind of god or spirit.

However, Confucius did stress the importance of ritual and filial piety, and he taught that people should follow the ancient rituals and religion of ancestor worship which would honor your parents and grandparents.
