FedEx Hold at Location service is one of the following: The shipper can send a package directly to one of our many FedEx Office Locations or a FedEx station that accepts Hold at Location packages -or- The recipient can request for the package to be held after the 1st delivery attempt is made to delivery address. In turn, the package can be held for pickup at a FedEx Office Location or at the station itself. This is a good option for people who wont be home and packages are requiring signatures. The Office locations and Stations will hold the package for up to 5 business days from the first attempt or if no attempts are made they will hold up to 5 business days from the commit date.
In some area's, you can call fedex and tell them to hold your delivery at the fedex sort facility in your area. If there is no facility available in your local area, you will get that message. Basically it is say "Sorry we can't hold your package here, it will be delivered to it's destination". That is the explanation I recieved.
