He wrote RLDS and they do not practice polygamy and never did. The name of their church changed to The Community of Christ in 2001.

The mainstream Mormon (LDS) Church banned the practice of polygamy among American members in 1890 and members outside the US in 1904. Today, anyone found to be in a polygamous relationship is promptly excommunicated. (I've actually witnessed this!)

There are other groups in the Mormonism movement which do practice polygamy. Many know of the FLDS which have been the subject of national attention, but there are many smaller groups and thousands of independent families.

When did polygamy end as the standard practice?

In the US, polygamy was never a standard practice. Even Utah wasn't allowed to be a state until they stopped it. In general, polygamy for Christians died out in a couple centuries after Christ. He preached that one man should cleave to one woman, and love became more important in marriage than community ties. Polygamy continues for other groups. It is not compatible with customs of free democratic countries, however and is not allowed anymore.

When did polygamy end in the Bible?

Polygamy is shown in the Old Testament as a custom among the Jews, at least for those who could afford more than one wife. The Bible does not really provide an end to polygamy. The practice of polygamy was abandoned by European Jews around 1000 CE, but continued amongst some Middle Eastern Jews until well into the twentieth century. The early Christians adopted the pagan practice of monogamy. The ancient pagans generally disapproved of polygamy, although they did not actually consider it illegal. However, The New Testament states that a leader of the church should only have one wife, which leads us to believe that this practice (to live without polygamy) is proper if the head of the church is to follow it.

Why practice polygamy?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called Mormons) do not practice polygamy. This practice officially ended in the church in 1890. The reason some members of the church practiced polygamy in the 1800's is because they believed that the prophet, Joseph Smith, had received a revelation from God that they should. Members only practiced polygamy if the prophet specifically asked them to. It is thought that one reason it was practiced is to take care of the older unmarried ladies and widows, as it was difficult for them to fend for themselves in the days before women's rights. There are a few offshoot groups not affiliated with the church (members of the LDS church found practicing polygamy are excommunicated) who do continue the practice of polygamy. They do so because they do not believe that the revelation received by Wilford Woodruff in 1890 to discontinue the practice is valid. These groups include the Fundamentalist LDS, the Apostolic United Brethren, the Davis County Cooperative Society, and the True Living Church of Jesus Christ. To learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or to contact representatives in your area, see the link provided below under "Related Links." Most groups that still practice polygamy do so because they feel they have been called by God to do so. There are many groups religious and secular that practice pleural marriage. Off shoots from the LDS faith, Biblical Polygamists who believe it is a true practice from the Bible, there are people of Jewish back grounds that practice polygamy and also Muslims who do. There are some who have no religious background that have decided that it makes since for them rather then having affairs to take responsibility and marry.

Why could the religion freedom clause in the first amendment not protect the practice of polygamy?

Because Polygamy didn't become an issue in America until the Advent of the Mormon Church and their exodus to Utah in around 1850. Back then a number of laws and legislation were passed because of strong religious beliefs. And lets face it, Paul the guy who shaped the entire christian religion, said marriage should occur only if the two individuals were not strong enough to remain a virgin and did not what to commit sin. So clearly Christianity has conflict with polygamy and thus America has conflict with polygamy. Actually the US shut the Mormon church down because of polygamy and in order to be a recognized as a religion again they had to cut out the polygamy. There were actually a number of circumstances in which Mormon leaders were taking advantage of the polygamy thing.

Is it should realized or should realize?

Let's step through the verb realize from future to present to past to past participle. Ready? Let's jump. I will realize. I could realize. I should realize. I realize. I realized. I have realized. I could have realized. I should have realized. The word realized is past tense. You can't "should realized" in this light. You should realize that.

What are the arguments about polygamy according to Islamic beliefs?

Here are some spotlights:- Polygamy is a very ancient human practice & Islam didn't invent it. It was practiced abundantly before Islam & it's also mentioned in the Bible.- polygamy was practiced even by prophets.- Islam put an upper limit for the number of wives that could be married by a man to be four as a maximum number.- Polygamy has its conditions to be accepted by the Islamic religion & justice between the wives tops the list.- In fact, Islam doesn't encourage polygamy. It only gives the grant for Muslims to practice it in certain special situations & under conditions. Even, the Holy Quran urges Muslims to better marry only one wife.- polygamy is a good option in such following cases:1. In the time of wars when the number of males is severely reduced.2. If the first wife is very sick.3. If the first wife is unable to bring birth to children.4. If the first wife dies.& other cases vary from a society to another & from a man to another.- Any Muslim man abuses polygamy is considered sinful & has to fear from the Almighty God.Answer BIn addition to the above, that I agree upon, Some more hints follow below: Nothing mentioned in the bible or the Torah that bans explicitly polygamyJesus (PBUH) is a Jew and sent by God to the Jews. however, he never denied the polygamy practiced by almost all Jews.Quran is the only holy book that limited explicitly the number of wives for a husband. The only holy book that conditioned that the man who goes into marriage, with one wife or up to four wives, should afford marriage expenses, should be fair and kind with his wife or wives, and should treat his wives equally (if more than one wife).Refer to the question below for more information on polygamy in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam
