I've lived there for many years and have lived near ocean all my life the Texas gulf coast is by far the worst place I have experienced so far typically you see cabbage head and man o war but I have seen at lest two other species that I dont know the name of most of the year you are relatively safe Portuguese man-o-war can be seen floating on surface so you can usually get out of their way they have a blue bubble of air that floats on surface but their tentacles can reach 30 feet cabbage head dont sting very bad unless you are in constant contact for a long time.
