There are several videos and tutorials online to assist you in setting up port forwarding on you BT Hub Home. If you need assistance, there are also many forums for online troubleshooting as well.
Switch
Depends on the bike frame..
On a hub network:The host (PC-A) computer sends the frame out its Network Interface Card (NIC) to Fast-Ethernet 0/1 (F0/1) on the HUB. The HUB then sends that frame out every interface (except incoming interface). If the destination MAC address is aaa.bbb.ccc, and PC-B has MAC address aaa.aaa.bbb, then PC-B's NIC will ignore the frame and nothing else will happen.
A hub is a device that transmits data out all interfaces expect the incoming interface. If you have an incoming frame from fa0/1, that frame will be sent out all other ports on the hub. When those frames reach the NIC of the PC's, they will discard it if it is not destined for their MAC address.
A freewheel hub dose not make the pedals go forward when the backwheel is turning, a track hub dose.

The hub on the wheel broke when we hit a boulder in the mounty trail.
Hubs and Switches make 1 ethernet connection out of as many is on the hub or switch.

The year, make and model, front hub, rear hub, more info would help.
Yes you can. But it might take some doing. You'd need to match the hub width of the geared wheel to the dropout width of the frame. Best chance is probably through an internally geared hub. And you'd need cable stops to go on the frame. Wraparound ones are available. If you want a wheel with external gears you'd probably need to spread AKA cold set the frame to take a wider hub. That's doable, but it takes some skill, and can only be safely done on steel frames.
