NO. You can return it for repair if you bought it with a warranty. If you bought it "As Is", then there is no warranty and you will pay for repairs. "As Is" means exactly that. You cannot return the car for a refund in either case.

Most places have lemon laws. However, you would have to prove that the previous owner knew of the problem AND did not disclose them to you. Check with an attorney.
