The following information is from Chapter Seventeen, entitled Draw Close to God in Prayer, paragraphs 5 - 8 of the publication What Does the Bible Really Teach? published by Jehovah's Witnesses: Consider what he told rebellious Israelites in the days of the prophet Isaiah: "Even though you make many prayers, I am not listening; with bloodshed your very hands have become filled." (Isaiah 1:15) So certain actions can cause God not to listen to our prayers. For our prayers to be favorably heard by God, therefore, we must meet some basic requirements. A primary requirement is that we exercise faith. (Mark 11:24) The Apostle Paul wrote: "Without faith it is impossible to please [God] well, for he that approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him." (Hebrews 11:6) Having true faith is more than merely knowing that God exists and that he hears and answers prayers. Faith is proved by our actions. We must give clear evidence that we have faith by the way we live every day.-James 2:26. Jehovah also requires that those who approach him in prayer do so with humility and sincerity. Do we not have reason to be humble when speaking to Jehovah? When people have the opportunity to speak to a king or a president, they usually do so respectfully, acknowledging the ruler's high position. How much more so should we be respectful when approaching Jehovah! (Psalm 138:6) After all, he is "God Almighty." (Genesis 17:1) When we pray to God, the manner in which we approach him should show that we humbly recognize our position before him. Such humility will also move us to pray from our heart in sincerity, avoiding routine, repetitive prayers.-Matthew 6:7, 8. Another requirement for being heard by God is that we act in harmony with our prayers. Jehovah expects us to do all that is within our power to work at what we pray for. For example, if we pray, "Give us today our bread for this day," we must work hard at whatever available job we are able to perform. (Matthew 6:11; 2 Thessalonians 3:10) If we pray for help in overcoming a fleshly weakness, we must be careful to avoid circumstances and situations that could lead us into temptation. (Colossians 3:5) In addition to these basic requirements, there are questions about prayer that we need to have answered. God is a God of love, and will never turn His back on you, despite what some verses (taken out of context) apparently say from the Old Covenant part of the Bible, now completely overshadowed by Jesus Christ, the New Covenant. Yes, he does listen to all prayer, and is able to do so because he is eternal and is therefore not bound by the constraints of time as we are. Jesus said that when we pray we should do so through Him. Whatever we ask for in faith, God will answer. The problem is, though, that God doesn't always answer in the way we expect. For instance, I have never 'played' the UK national lottery. But if I did, and I asked God that I should win next week, the answer, most likely would be a resounding 'no'. However, when I asked God many years ago to help me when times were tough, and I promised to follow him, here I am now, fit and well, and preparing for ordination in two years' time. God always listens, and always answers prayer... with a 'yes', 'no' or 'wait'. All we need to do is to trust in Him.

God prophosised over me and said my life would get better and for a day or two it did but now 2 weeks since I was prayed for everythings getting worse than ever?

If you had someone else pray for you; that's not the same as you praying to Jehovah God yourself.Unbeknownst to many people who think God listens to all prayers; Jehovah God, the Creator, The Almighty, -- does not listen to all prayers. He himself states of some people's prayers in Isaiah 1:15: "although you make many prayers, I am NOT LISTENING."Perhaps the person praying for you, was not acceptable to Jehovah; maybe doesn't even worship Jehovah. Just because someone is a clergy person, doesn't mean he was ORDAINED by Jehovah God.You first need to learn the truth about Jehovah, and what he requires of you. Then you will be drawn close to Him; and he will draw close to you.You also need to learn about the requirements Jehovah has for prayer. Jehovah does not just answer every Tom, Dick, and Harry's prayer, just because you prayed. Please see LINKS below.Another answer:God does listen to all prayers, but what you need to understand is that sometimes He says no. Otherwise you could pray, 'Dear God, I pray that I would be rich and famous and have a ferrari etc etc' and Bam! you'd get everything? How would that work? Everyone would be praying for everything and the world would be a mess! Praying that your life would get better is a bit like those prayers. Your life is never going to be perfect, because there is sin in the world. Maybe a better thing to pray would be that God would help you through the day, and strengthen you.

What would be acceptable prayer before a meal for Jehovah witness and Christian?

Typically Jehovah's witnesses address their prayers specifically to Jehovah (the most common translation of gods name YHWH as found in the bible) and at the close of the prayer pray through Jesus' name. As in "we ask all these things through your son Christ Jesus' name, amen." Within those parameters anything you want to say, as long as its respectful would be fine. Even if you don't pray to Jehovah specifically the majority of Jehovah's witnesses wouldn't make a fuss and would listen respectfully.

Can Jehovah's Witnesses listen to metal music like Iron Maiden?

Jehovah's Witnesses are allowed to listen to any music they like. Same goes for video games. However, Jehovah's Witnesses are careful as to what the listen to. If the music has strong language, is suggestive, or satanic, odds are that Witness would try to avoid that music. I, who is a Jehovah's Witness, listens to a large amount of different music such as Rock, Classical, Metal, Rap, and Pop. But the songs I listen to don't contain any of the above bold. I don't know much about Iron Maiden, but it all comes down to a personal choice.Hope this answers your question.

Can Jehovah's Witnesses listen to metal music?

Jehovah's Witnesses listen to ALL types of music.Jehovah's Witnesses listen to reggae, rock, urban, calypso, classical you name it, what they do not do is spend insurmountable time listening to music -- isolating themselves in the process -- or blindly try to emulate the singers and composers, or jump on the 'gotta buy that CD or I'm a nobody' bandwagon. If you have a Jehovah's Witness as a friend or associate maybe you can ask them what kind of music they like to listen to.Lady Gaga :) ROFLI'm a JW and I listen to ambient.

What is the philosophical basis of Jehovah's witnesses?

Very very simple:1) Jehovah God is the Creator of the Universe and mankind on earth. He is the 'Almighty'. Due to his Creatorship; all intelligent creation owes him something. At the least they owe him 'thanks'. But since our CONTINUED existence each day also is dependent upon Jehovah's making that possible; we owe him our praise; our honor; our obedience; our worship.2) Jehovah's Witnesses are exactly what their name says; they are Witnesses of Jehovah God.3) Therefore it would behoove anyone to LISTEN to Jehovah God; and obey his righteous requirements; -- and that they LISTEN to Jehovah's personal Witnesses.4) Jehovah God has endorsed them to carry his 'name'; and his 'message' to others who are not yet witnesses of Jehovah God.5) The fact that Jehovah God has endorsed them; -- sent them out to 'witness'; -- and blessed their door-step ministry; -- this is the philosophical basis of Jehovah's Witnesses.Among other things, mankind's eternal welfare depends on those things.

What is an example of Jehovah witness prayers?

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I can answer that for you first hand. First, our prayers are done without the use of any trinkets, orniments, beads, or anything like that. We do not have any set prayers that are already written out or manuscripted either. All of our prayers are directed to Jehovah, the GOD of Heaven, and are done through his son Jesus Christ. A Jehovah's Witness might pray several times a day for anything from thanking GOD for a meal, this day of life, or some other blessing. A prayer could be one requesting help with a problem, or asking for GOD's holy spirit to be upon the one praying, or it could be that the requests are being made on behalf of someone else. The list of things we might pray about are really too numerous to mention. A Jehovah's Witness might find themself praying about anything, because we believe that GOD's will should be taken into consideration in all aspects of our daily life. Answer2: Jehovah's Witnesses do not memorize prayers and recite them at the meetings or anywhere else. The repititon of memorized prayers does not please God. Jesus left us the model prayer at Matthew 6:9-10 to give all of us an idea of things to pray for and about. Prayers are very private and very personal. They are an indication of our love for God and our trust in him. Jesus even looked for private places to pray. Matthew 14:23 "After sending the crowds away, he went uo on the mountain by himself to pray." Mark 10:35 "Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he got up and went outside and left for an isolated place, and there he began praying." So Jehovah's Witnesses follow Jesus example making prayers and private and personal matter. At our public meetings, the Memorial of Christ Death, Assemblies, Conventions, Funerals and Memorial talks a speaker or chairman will give an opening and closing prayer. Heartfelt prayer spiritually enhances all our meetings and is offered on behalf of all those assembled.
