The O.T. has many parts to it - the 3 main parts are the Law, the Prophets and the Writings. Jesus said He came not to destroy but the fulfill or fill to the rim the Law of God - giving mankind its spiritual intent. He also came to fulfill the Prophecies written about Him and did so. He referred to many other writings of the Psalms, Genesis, etc..
His coming as the promised one that Moses spoke of as did several prophets, helped Him bring the Old Covenant into the New Covenant by His death on the Cross. He is now our eternal High Priest and Mediator to the Father for all mankind. The sacrificial laws ended by His sacrifice as Paul explains in Hebrews and certain administrative amendments took place (Levitical Priesthood for one) for Jesus' new central role on behalf of all mankind.
To fulfill prophecy as is stated in the Old Testament
AnswerChristians say that Jesus came to fulfil the Old Testament. Jews said that Christians did not really understand their ancient scriptures, and that, while a good man, Jesus was not prophesied and was not really sent by God to fulfil the Old Testament.
Jesus was in the new testament and not the old testament.
Jesus fulfilled all of the prophecies in the old testament. In his book "The New Evidence That Demands A Verdict", Josh McDowell says:- The Old Testament contains over three hundred references to the Messiah that were fulfilled in Jesus. (from Section 8, Support of Deity: Old Testament Prophecies Fulfilled in Jesus Christ)
None. Jesus was not in the Old Testament Books
JESUS was the messiah that was promised in the old testament. He was the fulfillment of old testament prophecy.
The old testament is the first half of the bible. The old testament is before Jesus was born (BC). The new testament is telling about Jesus' life.
Jesus is only foun in the new testament :) Read a bible!
The old testament is all what happened before the coming of Jesus, the new testament is after jesus came and died.
The story of Jesus' birth is part of the New Testament, specifically found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. The Old Testament contains prophecies that foretell the coming of the Messiah, who Christians believe to be Jesus.
That depends on one's religious beliefs. For Christians, the Old Testament is considered a part of the Bible, but the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament supersede many of the laws and practices outlined in the Old Testament. Other religious traditions may have different understandings of the role and relevance of the Old Testament.
Did you mean, "How many times DID Jesus quote from THE old testament?" If so, He quoted from the Old Testament 84 times.
