John 5:18 indicates that "the Jews" (really the Jewish religious leaders) wanted to kill Jesus, and wanted to use the fact that He healed on the Sabbath as another excuse to have Him removed permanently.

The rest of John chapter 5 gives more of the story, as well as Jesus' response.

What day was the Sabbath Day for Saint Peter?

The Sabbath day for Peter was the seventh day of the week, the same sabbath day that Jesus kept and the other apostles. In Acts 16:13 we read that Paul went to the riverside on the sabbath day to pray to God. He wanted to retreat from the city and be in a quiet place with God on the sabbath. Thus showing that the apostles still kept the seventh day sabbath as per the 4th commandment.

Did the apostles sin after Jesus left the earth?

AnswerWe have no independent account of anything the apostles did after the ascension of Jesus, but the Book of Acts does report the killing of Ananias and Sapphira (chapter 5), supposedly justified because Ananias and Sapphira had lied to Peter, with the other Christians reported as accomplices after the fact for removing the bodies and not reporting the deaths to the authorities. It also reports the blinding by Paul of Bar-Jesus (chapter 13), an act occasioning grievous bodily harm, merely to convert a Roman official. If these events really happened, then the apostles did sin after the ascension of Jesus.
