Not when compared to the Andes, the Himalayans or the Rockies but for the record Black Mountain at 4,145 feet above sea level is their highest elevation. Topographic prominence is a good or even better measure in mountaineering and Black Mountain does stand out like Pikes Peak. But there is a considerable difference with Black Mountain having a prominence of only 1,905 feet and Pikes Peak at 14,115 feet above sea level has a prominence of 5,510 feet. Zebulon Pike was certain that his peak would never be climbed. Today the summit of both Black Mountain and Pikes Peak are easily reached in the family automobile.
Kentucky has some mountains. Iowa has none.
Basically just the place they originated from - Rocky Mountain horse, Rocky Mountains. Kentucky Mountain horse, Kentucky Mountains (actually is the Appalachain Mountains, not called Kentucky mountains)
More hills and mountains can be found in Virginia than in Kentucky.
The Appalachian mountains are about 3,000 ft tall. Any other questions? :)
