West Virginia doesn't have any mountains. It has hills and bluffs. Mountains are caused by sliding plates under the ocean and near volcanoes. Hills and bluffs are caused by ice glaciers slowly floating down river years ago. I would beg to differ your answer that West Virginia does not have any Mountains since we as a state are located in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains, which are the oldest mountain's in the United States. That being said they have been weathered to be "smaller" or "shorter" making them seem as though they would be consider as hills. Being the oldest, they have been weathered for much longer than say the Rockies or the Nevada Mountain's. As for your information given about how Mountains are formed I agree our Mountain's were formed by plates sliding together under the ocean. The ocean then left leaving its deposits of animals etc. behind. This left us with some of the riches coal, gas, oil and Limestone seams around.

And Earth has three main landforms, (1) the valleys or the lower regions of the Earth and formed from the effect of eroding movement of water over rock and soil, (2) the mountains or a large vertical landforms, the Earth's natural elevation, and (3) the plains or the mostly flat and broad areas landform, more than 50% of the Earth's interior.
