Lady Capulet does not die. Lady Montague dies 'from grief' over Romeo being banished. This is from Act 5 scene iii:MONTAGUE: Alas, my liege, my wife is dead to-night;Grief of my son's exile hath stopp'd her breath:What further woe conspires against mine age?

Lady Montague, Romeo's mother, is said to have died from grief over her son's banishment. Montague says, in Act 5, Scene 3, and lines 218-219, "Alas, my liege, my wife is dead tonight. Grief of my son's exile hath stopped her breath."

Many readers say no, but some say yes. The Prologue at the beginning of the play the chorus remarks that Romeo and Juliet are "star-crossed" and fated to "take their lives" informs the audience that the lovers are destined to die tragically. What does surprise the readers is why did Shakespeare make Paris and Lady Montague die? Paris died because Romeo kills him, but why? Why; Romeo was suffering from fury that his beloved one was dead. Even tough Romeo tells Paris to leave and doesn't want to fight Paris insists that they do fight. Romeo was filled with fury and he was grieving. Romeo, Juliet, Paris, Tybalt, and Mercutio; all youth deaths. Lady Montague was an adult and not youth, then, why her death. Lady Montague died of a grieving heart. Her son Romeo was exiled and she would never see him ever again. Lady Montague showed kindness, devotion, and sweetness, all of which add up to the youth of deaths. My answer to all of this is I don't know why Shakespeare did make Lady Montague die. If I was alive during his time I would have asked him this: "Why Lady Montague?"

Romeo kills Paris in a swordfight. Mrs. Montague dies of grief at Romeo's banishment.
