It depends on where you are. There are some 13 states in the US that allow medical use, but you have to be treated by a doctor to get your medical card. Just look up medical marijuana sates.
No, you cannot get a prescription for medical marijuana in Virginia. Virginia does not currently allow any use of marijuana, medically or not, as it is illegal. Doctors are not allowed to prescribe it.

You first have to refer to your lease. If there is nothing in there that restricts medical marijuana use in their unit, NO. As long as you live in a state where medical marijuana is legal and there is nothing in your lease that prohibits it, there is nothing they can do about it. It is considered your medicine.
