Verizon uses CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access). It sometimes will connect to GSM(Global Standard for Mobile Communication) if used in countries with providers that Verizon has negotiated an agreement with that uses GSM technology. Roaming charges will apply!
On most of their phones, yes. I think there are (or were) a couple that were a combination of CDMA and GSM that they called "world phones." The Motorola Z6C was one that I know of. I'm not sure of their current lineup.
No they do not, Verizon wireless is a cdma network, that does not use a sim card with their celphones. cdma may be overlooked sometimes but it is one of the best and clearest working network, and it provides all the trendy smart phones a person desires.
some rumors say they will buy late 2010. or late 2009. some say Verizon will stick with CDMA. But their will be a big announcement if they are switching. so you just have to wait?
Verizon Wireless is a CDMA network. However, the global phones are programmed to pick up GSM networks overseas... but here in the states, it's all CDMA
No. At&t network uses gsm technology and verizo wireless uses cdma
Verizon Wireless does not use SIM cards unless it is a world phone. Only carriers that use GSM technology use SIM cards. Verizon Wireless uses CDMA technology. Since the phone uses different wave lengths and different technology, this can not be done.
Verizon wireless users can use myxer to get ringtones i use myxer to get stuff for my phone (i have a phone from Verizon wireless).
No. The only Verizon Wireless phones that use SIM cards are Global Phones. SIM cards are only used for the GSM technology. Verizon Wireless runs off of the CDMA technology. So... if you switch the SIM card, the phone still won't work because it has nothing to do with the CDMA and that's what Verizon Wireless works off of. HOWEVER, you can activate a Verizon Wireless phone on an existing account by dialing *228 pressing SEND then choosing option 3.
AnswerGSM (Global Systems Management) Cingular also supports TDMA technology but it is the "old" technology...Wrong... Cingular (AT&T) uses GSM, but Verizon Wireless uses CDMA
Yes, since Verizon Wireless bought Alltel, you can use a Verizon Wireless phone on an existing Alltel plan.
It is not possible, due to the fact that AT&T is a type of network called GSM. It is not compatible with Verizon, a CDMA network.
No
No. You can not attach a router and use a standard Verizon Wireless aircard as a wireless access point. This is why they have MiFi which is essentially a wireless access point.
If you are more comfortable in the use of a Verizon wireless phones then you don't need to purchase other brands of wireless phones. Verizon wireless phones are more user friendly and they come cheap.
No. they use completely different networks, Verizon uses CDMA, and att uses GSM, there are some Verizon phone how ever who do use the GSM, network for international call, i don't see that being an issue.
