Who builds cell phone towers for Verizon?

Not sure about Verizon but I have been lead to believe that AMT American Tower builds most US urban towers and SBA builds most rural ones. AMT(21.65 B) is a lot bigger company. SBA (5.0 B) Maybe Verizon uses them.

cheers.

Why might your cell phone not work while traveling in Europe?

World wide there are several mobile phone technologies and different bands.

You have the normal GSM network and the CDMA network. These 2 are incompatible and work completely different. So if you have a CDMA phone likely it will not work because Europe does not have CDMA network (CMDA is NOT the same as 3G). However there are some CDMA phones whom also have GSM capability built-in.

Another reason is band selection. In the US (and other countries as well) they use different bands then used in Europe. In Europe dual band is 900 - 1800mhz. In the states this is 850 - 1900. So if you have a (old) phone which only works on US bands it will not work in Europe. However man modern phones have support for multiple bands such as tri-band and quad-band which will definitely work.

The 3rd possible reason is that your phone is simlocked. This means there is a restriction on your mobile phone which prevents you from using another simcard or simcard from other Telecom providers. This restriction is farely easy to remove just search for 'brand+model+unlock'. You will find many websites offering to unlock your mobile. Just be careful with the so called 'free unlock codes' and website which sell software for 0.99 - 5 USD. These are all fake and sell free software and might damaged your phone making it unusable. Trustable websites sell their solution from around 15 - 20 USD.

What if you change your mind after buying a used motorcycle?

In most instances the answer is NO. But there are some instances which you may. In general, if you buy from a private seller and the money transaction is complete and you have signed the back of the title, than the car is yours, even if 10 seconds later the engine blows. Buying from a dealer is different, dealers have to adhere to the laws of their state regarding sales of used cars, and in most states there are some laws that protect the consumer in one way or another. The ONLY time which you will have a right to return the car regardless of who the seller is (dealer or private), is when: 1) Odometer is not the actual reading and the seller did not disclose that. (its a federal law, they have to) 2) If the car has frame damage, salvage title, or any other type of title other than "clear" and the seller didn't disclose. These 2 conditons have to be reported to the buyer, and most sellers will even include the fact on the bill of sale to protect themselves. But if they fail to inform you and you find out about it later, than you have to be reimbursed. Hope this helped you out.

Can a Verizon account holder view everyone's text messages and emails that's on their account?

Nobody can get the actual text messages and what they say without a court order. All they can get is the same info that shows on the bill if you have detailed billing. They can get the date/time they were sent/received and what numbers they were sent to/from. As far as e-mails are concerned they cannot see any information at all, other than the amount of data being used.

Why gmsk is used for gsm?

GMSK for GSMGMSK is used in GSM because it provides good spectral efficiency.

i think 8-psk modulation is also used..... for edge hardware.

Well the reason GMSK is used for GSM.1. High spectral Efficiency2. Since Basic MSK uses Phase variations for modulation so better immune to noise.3.Use of non-linear amplifiers at receivers can be utilized since the information is stored in phase variations rather than amplitude, Non-linear amplifiers give better response and consume less power so low battery usage which is a important parameter in Cellular technology.

Can you use your existing cell phone when you switch carriers?

Usually, when you switch carriers, you have to switch phones because of their services with the phones. It's better off to get the new phone along with your new carrier. Depending on which network your current and future cell companies are on will decide whether or not the phone will work with both carriers. Also, even when they are on the same type of network, some more advanced features may not work properly. You can also ask for the unlock code for the phone. This makes it possible to use a phone purchased for one carrier to use it on another. Not all companies are willing to do this, but it's worth asking. Many phones are "locked" onto a specific carrier meaning you cannot use the phone with another carrier or service other than what that service company allows. Phones can be unlocked with a unique code which is typed in or entered through a data cable attachment. These codes are normally secret and usually not availiable to the consumer, though there are third parties which crack the code algorithims and will sell unlock codes for phones. The idea behind locking is that the carrier absorbs much of the cost of a phone, planning on making it back through service charges. This is why phones can be free or discounted with activation and contracts. Recouping phone cost is also why carriers charge early termination fees. By locking the phone, they ensure that they are the provider which makes money off of that phone.

Are there any security risks related to cell phones?

Yes, there are. Cell phone companies have taken a lot of effort to try and make cell phones more secure, and in recent years, have even succeeded to a certain extent in improving cellular phone security. But they havent been able to eliminate security concerns totally. The majority of security risks associated with cell phones are:

Cell phone conversation interception: A cell phone works on Radio frequencies. Any conversation put out through these frequencies is not absolutely secure. Analog cell phones are more vulnerable and conversations on such cell phones can be intercepted using radio scanners which are quite cheap and readily available. Conversations on digital cell phones are more difficult to intercept as theses are encoded. The latest PCS (personal communications service) phones use an array of different frequencies to send out conversations and also scramble them so dialogue on such cell phones is virtually impossible to cut off.

Cloning: Utilizing and unlawfully charging your calls to someone elses cell phone number is known as cloning. It is more difficult to clone digital cell phones than it is to analog ones. Cloning is a federal crime and it costs hundreds of millions of dollars to cell phone carriers every year.

Theft: If your cell phone is stolen then the first thing to do is inform your service provider so that they can temporarily suspend your services. Before you report the loss, if your cell phone has been used to make any local or long distance calls then you are liable to be charged according to different rules of different carriers. What you can do to prevent these charges is to report your loss immediately.

Cell phone companies are taking some measures to reduce instances of these security concerns. One of these is known as Authentication. The legality of each call is tested by needing the calling cell phone to send a response to a code. If the response is not correct, then the call cannot be completed. This is the process of authentication. Some cellular phones require a personal identification number (PIN) to be entered before using the phone. This also helps to avoid unauthorized use of cell phones.

An insurance cover for your cell phone is also a useful idea. It will protect you in case your cell phone is stolen or you lose it. Ask your provider or carrier to help you choose an insurance policy which best suits your needs.

If you were misled by Verizon and switched to another company after 2 months how can you get out of paying Verizon's fee?

With most of the companies, it's hard to. When you signed up, you signed a contract saying that you would keep your service with them for X amount of time. It also says in the contract that you have a certain number of days to cancel you service without being charged the cancellation fee. After those 15 or 30 days, you're pretty much agreeing that you will keep the service for the length of the contract.

The purpose of the 30-day trial period is for you to be able to sign a contract and purchase a phone for a discount but still be able to back out of the contract early if you're not satisfied with the service- after all, there's really no way to tell if the service is going to work well for you until you try it! However, after that 30-day window, you're responsible for those charges and must pay them. If you do not, Verizon has the right to make a report to your credit bureau which will end up lowering your credit score. A low credit score shows people you're not very reliable when it comes to paying your bills which can hurt since many different parts of your life depend on a good credit score like applying for loans, credit cards, getting good interest rates that save you money, and even applying for a job! And you'll still owe Verizon that money, anyways, so you may as well pay it.
