Short answer: no. The air cooled engines have an excellent valve train with stainless steel valves and hardenedvalve seats which seem to stand up well to todays gasoline without any lead. Todays gasolines have additives that take care of this stuff now.
Not really. I do not know your age but when I was young everyone used Amaco White gas. The white meant it was unleaded. It can not hurt anything to use a lead substitute on occasion.
Yes. I had a 1969 LeSabre in 1980 that still used leaded gas. Any auto store will have lead substitute. Maybe another poster knows if super unleaded is good enough.
