That would be a short shaft.
short
27 same as a th350
Yes, you need to open up the transmission and replace the or swap the output shaft. Then bolt on the shorter tail housing.
41.5 inches
A TH350 can be used in a 91 Caprice with a 5.0 or a 5.7 engine. A 91 Caprice came with a 700R4 transmission in almost all cases. That being said, you must use a TH350 with a 9" tail shaft. These were available in 2wd Chevy trucks up to 86. They were also available in 72 to 76 Impala and Caprice. You will need to modify your cross member transmission mount location. You will need to use the shift linkage arm from the 700R4. Most importantly, your speedometer will no longer work. The 700R4 transmissions from this era use a magneto and exciter ring. The TH350 only ever used drive and driven gears with a cable. In addition, the 9" tail shaft TH350 only had provisions for a small driven gear so you can't even install the magneto into the tail shaft. One final thing: Make sure you use the correct torque converter. The one from the 700R4 will not work.
Remove the shifter cable and switch from the drivers side of the transmission and the seal will be driven over the small shaft and into the transmission case. The shaft is the one that the shifter cable hooked to.
You can but you will have to change or alter the drive shaft also.
yes they are because of the lock up convertor used.
It will be on the back of the transmission where the drive shaft goes in, and bolted to the cross member
on the transmission at the back where the drive shaft goes in and one on top of the rear end
Yes but you may have to shorten the drive shaft if it is a 350 turbo going to a non electronic 700r4
DONT DO IT...THE INPUT SHAFT IS DIFFERENT! You will need to use a transmission input shaft for a v8. It will cause engine failure if you dont!
It is sreewed into the transmission tail shaft housing.4X4 trucks have them in the transfur case tail shaft.
