Turn Signals and Hazard Lights

Where is the flasher for the turn signals and hazard blinkers located on the 1999 Mercury Sable?

The flasher/turn signal is screwed into the metal support above the fuse panel, you must take the bottom of the dash off and remove the plastic cover. this is for a sable that has light out detection. Any questions, contact I know for Real. Look under your dash. Look for a Blue Box screwed into the right side of the dash panel. This of course is done, with you laying on your back, and your feet in the back seat. It sucks to get to, but it's the easiest to access once your under there. It's a blue box, about the size of half a twinkie. Remove the plug that holds it in, unscrew the screw that holds it to the frame, and go to Autozone to get a new relay. You will have to reuse the metal piece that holds the relay to the dash panel, so be sure and save that before you throw the old part away. Installation is the reverse. Be sure to read through the Related Question below on the Taurus - great tips & info that equally applies to the Sable. Flasher relay is located, behind left side of instrument panel. The Flasher sensor looks like a little aluminum can, and is located under the dash (provided they didn't include a dash cover) otherwise you'd have to unscrew it first from all it's mounting screws. The can is mounted on the steering column up a ways, (best way to see is to put your head up there, while your feet rest in the backseat, it's uncomfortable but it works. You'll see two cans, left/right, turn your key to the "on" position, and use the turn signals, and feel each can for a clicking feel/sound. Don't replace that one, unless you don't have turn signals either. Henceforth the other one is the Hazard/Flasher sensor. Pull out the wire clip (it's easier if you slide the can out of it's holding clip, pop in a new one, and get upright before you pass out. Check all of the fuses. If they are good change the flasher which is in the fuse box on some cars. The flasher on most cars is located around the fuse box under the dash, or attached to the underside of the dash. It is a small round cylindrical Can made of aluminum, or plastic.

Oil and Oil Filters
Chevy Camaro
Ford E-250 Van

What is the procedure to change the oil pan gasket?

Purchase a repair book from an auto parts store for the auto to be repaired. It will tell you all you need to know.

It also depends on what kinda of vehicle you want to do this on. On one particular vehicle the only way to get the oil pan off was to lift the engine (I'm not kiddin') and another one you had to take a part of the exhaust out of the way to get at it.... anyway, ya, other than the few pain in the butt ones, the rest ain't so hard.

1)drain the oil 2)remove the bolts 3) scrape away old gasket material or sealer from both surfaces (being careful not to scar them) 4) Clean the oil pan well (you don't want any extra junk in there when you put it back on. 5) Put on sealer/gasket 6)put bolts on 7) If you can find the proper tightening specifications, then go right ahead and do it, but if not, and you don't have some idea, then it's best to take it to a shop. Cork gaskets should be tightened to about 100 inch pounds (max 120, 100 being safe). I recommend using a torque wrench. It's best that you replace the oil filter too since the oil is already out and .... why not. :) I hope I could help :)

How do you change an oil pan gasket in a Maxima?

The oil pan gasket on the 92-96 Max was a silicone compound, part number 999MP-A7007 it is important you use that. It is not a Harry Homeowner job. It involves lifting and removing engine supports and mounts. If you try, buy the manual. no-one , even a master tech can tell you on the web for that job. Sorry.

Pretty much spot on, if you arent of at least Intermediate or above DIY'er, then you shouldn't tackle this project on your own.

Its not as simple as loosening a few bolts.

Why would the engine ride rough in first and second gear and the service engine soon light blink on and off in a 1999 Camaro?

Sounds like you need lessons on how to drive a stick shift. But even tough you have trouble shifting the engine service light shouldn't come on. I am not sure if the engine light would come on if you got the RPMs too high while shifting. good luck

New Answer HeadlineThe service engine soon light is on because your camaro is misfiring. The 3800 series v6 is known to misfire because of bad bad spark plug wire placement. They come over the engine block and behind. They are placed just above the exhaust headers causing them to burn out quickly, which then causes your spark plugs to go bad, and bad spark plugs cause a bad catalytic converter. What you need to do is tune up the car as soon as possible before you blow that converter. Change the spark plugs, plug wires, and fuel filter. I suggest getting high performance plugs and wires as well because they withstand the heat better. If the engine light is still on, replace the ignition coil pack, because those might be burnt out too depending how long the misfiring was occuring. If it's still misfiring, bad fuel injectors are the last thing needing to be replaced. If all that fails, you might have a dead piston. AnswerCheck your codes, you probably have a misfire. AnswerMy 2000 Camaro 3.8 V6 is doing the EXACT same thing at the moment. The code will say Multiple Cylinder Misfire. Adding engine carbon cleaner to the oil and the gas tank helps a lot, but check your EGR Valve, your Catalytic Converter (they replaced mine and it helped a lot), spark plugs and wires, and ignition coils. Even though i replaced ALL of those things, i still have this problem, its not NEAR as bad as it was, i think i need to add a little bit more carb cleaner to my gas tank. Hope it helps.

Put some platinum plugs in it. they are hard to change out and the wire ends tend to break so you might as well get some plug wires. Dont be cheap on the brand and wires. Adding fuel additives can help like{ tuneup in a bottle} its usually around 7 dollars and will claen the plugs ,valves, injectors and pistons. but a good tuneup will save you alot of money in the longrun in fuel and costly engine overhauls.

AnswerMy 99 Camaro v6 misfired and it was because I think was there was arcing between one of the wires towards the back somewhere. It cost me about 80 bucks to fix it at a licensed gm mechanic.

Fuel Filters
Chevy Camaro

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1994 Chevy Camaro 3.4L V6?

The fuel filter on a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro is on the drivers side on the inner side of the frame rail near the back almost parallel to the front of the back drives side tire. The way you get it off is to loosen the nut on the front of the filter and pull off the little white clamp on a hole in the hose on the back of the filter with a flat head screw driver and slide it out of the clamp housing that holds it in place than slide the new one in slide the hose back on the back and it should come with a little white clamp you place in the cut opening on the hose so the hose will stay safe and secure and screw the nut back onto the front and your done. For anyone that is going to try to change it on your own it isn't hard to do BUT BEFORE you try to change it please make sure you are wearing heavy protective covering like overalls and some heavy covering on your arms and gloves so gas will not spill on you and if gas does get on you make sure you wash it off RIGHT AWAY it burns like hell and it will leave blisters if not tended to as soon as possible. Have fun with it! BenZ28 Its in the frame rail on the right side or the car next to the fuel tank its actually on the drivers side frame rail...right along the engine side of the hump for the diff...

What is the horsepower of a Chevy Camaro RS 2 8L V6?

The horsepower for a 2.8 V6 is 135, torque 18082-84 2.8s have about 115 bhp; 85s and later got fuel injection for 135 bhp

i belive it is 210 horse

i actually reseached your engine and here are the exact specifics.

Engine Configuration V Cylinders 6 Aspiration/Induction Normal Displacement 173.00 CU IN. | 2835.5 cc. | 2.8 L. Horsepower 125.00 BHP (92 KW) HP / Liter 44.6 BHP / Liter Bore 3.50 in | 88.9 mm. | 0.1 m. Stroke 2.99 in | 75.9 mm. | 0.1 m. Fuel Type Gasoline - Petrol

The Chevy Camaro 2.8L specs around 135 horse.

its gotta be less than 145

The 3.4L 1993 camaros engine is rated at about 160hp so this one Id say is around 125-135.

Its not 210hp, that's the v8 you're thinking of. I don't know what the HP actually is tho ... sorry:(

Auto Insurance

How much would full coverage auto insurance cost on a 2dr Chevy Camaro automatic with 102000 miles automatic and power windows and doors locks?

Rates will be different from different insurers. Some of the factors that go into the calculation include:

1. Liability limits

2. Amount of collision and comprehensive deductibles

3. Uninsured motorist limits (generally the same as liability limits unless the insured selects lower limits)

4. Deductible selected, if any, on no-fault portion of coverage (often called "personal injury protection")

5. Driving record and age of the principal driver and of all "occasional" drivers

6. Whether or not others will be driving the car, and their driving records and ages

7. The location where the car is primarily garaged

Be certain that you deal only with an insurer that is "authorized" (licensed) to transact auto insurance in your state. That information is a matter of public record with your state insurance regulator.

If you do not have a great deal of knowledge about insurance, you are also advised to use a licensed agent or broker who can take your full financial picture into the calculation of what you should buy.

Where is the timing tab on a 1986 Suburban 305?

There is supposed to be a tab on the timing cover a lot of times it gets broken off. GoodluckJoe

I have a 1986 Suburban with a 350.More than likely it's in the same place as mine. Look behind the water pump from above, more than likely your TVS switch will be in your way. However, it is there. The vibration dampner will identify TDC almost completely verticle.Behind the pump you should find a traditional timing gauge along with a tube extending upwards through the gap between the water pump and block. It is possible to set the timing to this mark, however like mine, you may have to remove the water pump to clean and verify it's accuracy with alittle tweak or Two. The tube is for a special kind of timing indicator/light for the shop tech to use. I know, it is seems like a dumb idea compared to the traditional timing mark between the power-steering pump and bottom of the water-pump, but what can you do, it was the 80's.

If you are having trouble seeing the timing marks spray carb cleaner or Brake clean on it till it cleans up. I have also pushed a rag down on it with a long screwdriver and wiped it off as well.Stan

Turn off auto headlights in Camaro?

If you want to disable the "auto" headlight function and I just did this today and worked so good and ideal. Its so easy. Just replace your low beam hot wire (mine wire was purple) with one that was spliced off of your fog light (that wire was purple too, I believe). Ok, so once you do that, the only way to turn on your headlights is when your fog lights are on. So if your fog lights are off then your headlights are too. Before I did this config today, I would have my fog lights on all the time with my head lights anyway. But yeah, that's the catch if you want it easy. Another thing I did to was buy a set of 2 low/high beam camaro harnesses (male and female ends) from eBay. It was only $20. I used the harnesses for what I spliced (from the fog light) to be connected to the extra "male end" harness connector while leaving the original "male end" harness connector next to it so I could easily go back to stock config without re-splicing anything.

How do you reset the 'service engine soon' light on a 1997 Camaro?

I have a 1996 Caprice, I assume it's the same method. You turn the key to the "on" position. Fully depress the accelerator three times within 5 seconds. Then turn the key off. When you restart the car, it should be reset.

this did not work

the light is on because there is a problem you can unhook battery for a few mins if the light comes back on after take it to a mechanic and have it scanned for trouble codes

The response "press pedal 3 times" is incorrect, however, this is how to reset the CHANGE OIL light on the Caprice.

CHANGE OIL lights don't exist on the Camaro.

Read what he said below~ O'Riley will look at it too, I'm sure those new AutoZone places will too. But you might want to get it fixed not just unhook the battery. Could be just a misfire.

Just take it to any AutoZone and ask them to read your codes (they hook up a code reader which gives them/you an idea of your problem) and reset you ecu/computer its a free service Could just be your gas cap O2 sensors tune up or a hundred other and worse things.
