Does a 1997 polaris explorer 4004x4 have the same transmission as a polaris trailboss 350 4x4?

I think they do. Since 1994 all chain driven models have the type 3 transmission. I am not sure when or if they stopped using them. To verify I am right you could do a oem polaris parts look up for the two atvs in question and compare part numbers for the whole Assembly or the case halves of the two boxes
