Camry 98 has drum based rear brakes.
I believe the four cylinder has rear drums and the six has disc brakes.
You have to replace brake shoes.
Remove the wheels from your 1995 Toyota Camry. Remove the brake pads by removing the brake pad Springs. Tap on the brake drum with a hammer or mallet. Slide the brake drums off. Reverse the process to install the new brake drums and shoes.
Your car came with the option of having rear disc brake or drums. The simple way to tell is to look the the wheel and see if you see rotors if you dont see rotors than you have drum brakes
Camry does not have rear disk brakes. It rear drum brakes. So you don't have to replace rotors. It's most likely that you don't need to replace drums too, but it might happen. To replace rear brake shoes you have to remove rear wheels. Remove the drums which might be not easy. You need to remove the springs holding rear brakes together. After that you have to remove four pins holding the shoes (one pin per shoe, two per side). Put new brake shoes. Installation is opposite to removal. PS: Make sure that you remember the position of each part when you are removing it. My 2003 Camry does have rear disk brakes, so you must follow the same basic procedure as the front.
to remove drums
Drums and shoes.
There is one there Does the car have rear pads or shoes they are different from each other Some cars have both PLEASE REPOST WITH DETAILS
Brakes shoes are those parts that are located on the back of the brakes to help keep the drums and rotors in place. Some cars has wheel cylinders and others have brake shoes.
Brake drums can not be cut. The shoes inside can be replaced.Only disc brakes(rotors) can cut.
It depends if it has rotors it has pads, if it has drums it has shoes. Hope this helps.
you replace the complete rear brake system; be it drums, shoes, and mounting hardware, or discsand calipers. Identify your rear brake system.
