1996 and up have obd2
Under the drivers side dashboard, and a little to the right. The back of your head will probably touch the break pedal to see the connection plug under the dash. Hope this helps.
OBDI is not compatible with this vehicle. If you mean the OBDII diagnostic port then it is on the driver's side of the dash usually on the underneath side. Sometimes it has a little cover over it. Hope this helps.
Anything made after 1996 I think is OBD2.
The obdII connector should be on the drivers side of the dash, close to the kick panel. It may be slightly up behind the dash and hard to see.
To my knowledge, an OBDII scanner tool will read any OBDII system in any vehicle. And yes, the 2000 Mazda has the OBDII system. Incase you did not know. All vehicles sold in the US 96 and newer are required to have an OBDII system.

The OBDII system is used in 1995 and later model vehicles. An OBDII scanner must be used to retrieve the trouble codes.
