Need to call a dealer and give them the VIN # and they can tell you.
Is my 2002 Chevy Tahoe a slip differential or a limited slip differential
I believe that is a limited slip differential with 3.55 gears
If your 94 Silverado with a 96 Silverado transmission slips out of overdrive when you are on the highway, the gears may have seized up. You should also check the transmission fluid level.
It was an option, not standard equipment.
Open the drivers door and look for a sticker on the end of the door that shows the axle code For example : ( D4 - 3.73 limited slip )--------------------( 45 - 3.55 non - limited slip ) ( D1 - 3.27 limited slip )--------------------( 46 - 3.73 non - limited slip ) ( D2 - 4.10 limited slip )-------------------- ( 41 - 3.27 non - limited slip ) --------------------------------------------------( 42 - 4.10 non - limited slip )
it is a gear ratio 3:73 rear end limited slip
the rear end is prob 3:42 limited slip rear end
the axle code will state what gears the vehicle has. 3.73's means it has the factory tow package. it's found on the vin sticker on the door jam, unfortuantly that's really the only way to know for sure here are axle codes 43 Open 3.08 41 Open 3.27 42 Open 4.10 46 Open 3.73 45 Open 3.55 D4 Limited Slip 3.73 D2 Limited Slip 4.10 L73 Limited Slip 3.73
75w90. If it has limited slip, additive is required.
Take off pumkin cover, on center pin in the diff there is a bolt on the botton of the bigger opening that holds pin in place, take the bolt out of the pin and tap the pin out. You have to tap out one side to get out one gear, then tap the pin back through and do the same thing for the other gear. Once you get the upper and lower gears out there are C clips that you have to take out so you can slide the axles out at the two middle gears will pop out. If you have any questions call me at 435-820-5242. and i will help you the best I can. GOOD LUCK.... He forgot to ask you if is posi or limited slip or one wheel wonder, you can not do this if it is posi or limited slip(clutch type).
They are the same sensor, located in the rear differential. In my case, the sensor broke off and got in between the teeth on the limited-slip gears. This caused several teeth on the limited slip to break. Long story short, the differential had to be replaced (luckily it was under warranty). THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL YEAR.
Limited slip was an available option.Limited slip was an available option.
