Timing chain. I checked with dealer's service yesterday regarding my daughter's car. No periodic change required.
Timing CHAIN ( there is no listing for a timing belt for the 1.8 liter 4 cylinder in a 2003 Toyota Corolla on the Gates website )
Actually, I believe all 2000 and up models have chains. I checked for our 2000 Corolla on Rockauto, and a chain comes up. This is what is stated on Toyota discussion sites.
Yes, according to Toyota all models after 1997 use a Timing Chain and not a belt. They told me they recommend the chain being changed at 120,000 miles or I could have a tensioner added. It does not have a timing belt. It has a chain..all 2003 Toyota Corolla Trims S, CE and LE have the same engine, the 1.8Liter 1 ZZ FE, The only engine Toyota makes anymore with a timing belt is the V8 that comes in the Tundra, Sequoia and 4Runner
It is my understanding that all corollas up to 2003 have a timing chain not a timing belt. So really if the car is running fine don't worry about it. It's really when they have a timing belt that they recommend replacing it every 35000 to 50000 miles. Don't quote on this, I own a 2003 Toyota corolla and that's the information the dealer gave me.
It has a timing chain
when do you change timing chain on 2003 Toyota 4-runner?
Chain
Does a toyota corrolla 2003 2.0 D4D have a timing belt or chain?
The 2003 and 2004 Toyota Corolla has a timing chain. In my opinion, all car engines should have a chain and not a belt. Timing belts create the need for expensive belt replacements and can sometimes damage your engine if the belt breaks
2003 Toyota Camry 2.4L does NOT have a timing belt. It does have a Timing chain which DOES NOT need to be replaced.
Yes , the 4.0 liter V6 engine in a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner has a timing CHAIN
