Remember this. 2 and 4 wheel drive transmissions are different and will not interchange.
Now back to your question. The only transmission that will work in that year is a 1996 or 1997 4L60E because it is a 1/2 ton and the wireing harness and computer is set up for the 4L60E ONLY. The 3/4 tons used the 4L80E in them ONLY.
