r12 but you can convert it by changing charging nipple on low pressure side which is on the compressor. you may not be able to get any r12 anymore. so buy a conversion nipple for 10 bucks at advance auto and buy a charging kit for r134a it holds about 24 ounces and 3 oz of oil
It has 134 A the change was around 92 93

A 93 Mercedes 190 2.0 engine uses R12. If you would like more information about your vehicles ac system log on to www.idqusa.com
R-134, cars built '93 and prior used R12. However bear in mind that '93 vehicles were a mixed bag of both, some used R12, others R134, and your car could be a '93. One more thing, AC stuff should really be left to the profesionals, not the home mechanic.
2.0 pounds of R134a freon............
Parking brake.
Either a 2.5L 4 cyl or a 3.0L V6
Mineral oil is used with all R12 systems.

From my understanding, in 94 and newr vehicles, all of them use 134A. 92 & older use R12. 93 Was the wierd year that some has 12 & others 134 A.
