Is it a 4-wheel drive ? If it is then that so called vacuum hose hooks to the VENT TUBE on the transfer case and will be clamped to a small bracket that should be bolted to 1 of the top transmission bell housing bolts. The transmission does not have any vacuum hose's on it.
Check the transmission cooler, located in front of the radiator. Flush the coils with a hose to insure that air can flow to cool it.
It goes in through the lower radiator hose, and out through the upper.
If you look at the air filter box, you will see the air intake hose that goes to the engine. As soon as it comes out of the box, it will be in that hose.
