How does the nook work?

A Nook is a digital reading system that benefits your eyes. Systems like Ipad, NookColor, and others are full-lighted screens that hurt your eyes. The Nook is programmed to look and feel just like a book. But with the Nook, you can download millions of books but just in one machine. If you are a bookworm, the Nook will really and truly help you.

Is the nook tiring to the eye?

Is reading a book tiring to the eyes? If it is for the book, it is for the nook. The nook is programmed to look and feel exactly like a regular book, except it can hold a lot more books in one thing. It depends on your eyes. Do you feel comfortable with holding a regular book? Either way, because of the nook's touch screen, it might be a little tiring to the eye. However, after a couple of minutes the nook touch screen closes its back light. So unless you keep on touching the screen, it shouldn't be a problem. Enjoy your Nook!

Should you wait for the nook 2 and nook lite to come out to buy a nook?

There is no Nook 2 or Nook Lite coming up. There is a Nook Color, which I think has decreased the price of the Nook. But you can check in the Barnes and Nobles website.

Can you read the Nook in the dark?

You can read the Nook Color in the dark but not the Nook. The Nook looks and feels exactly like a normal book (except for the touch screen!). It is designed to help your eyes and not hurt it like the Nook Color does. If you cannot read a book in the dark, you cannot read the Nook in the dark. Unless you use a booklight! Please don't erase.....The Nook Color doesn't hurt MY eyes at all. You can read it in the dark or low light conditions because the screen is backlit, or can be flipped to white letters on a black background to make it less disruptive to others around you-like the driver in your car. I think all things like (computers, TV's, tablets, NOOK COLORS, Ipads, cell phones, etc.) hurt your eyes. You might have a different opinion but this is what I feel. You're welcome to answer some other question of the same topic.

Does the nook color use the same size charger the nook?

The color uses a micro USB cable but the power source at the plug-in side is much larger and more powerful (1.9A for the nook color vs. 850mA for nook vs. 500-650mA for standard USB power). I tried to plug my regular nook charger into my nook color but without the larger plug in power box that comes with the nook color, it will not charge. In B&N customer help books for nook color they say specifically not to use a power source other than one that is made specifically for nook color. I didn't push the issue once I saw my nook color wouldn't show a charging icon when plugged into my regular nook AC source cord.

Do you prefer nook or Kindle?

I would recommend the NOOKcolor to just about anyone! You can LendBooks to all your friends who have nooks and eBooks are cheaper on NOOK and you can get library books onto your nook too! The Nook also plays mp4 movies, any type of music (Pandora included) and also has some small games like Chess or Sudoku! Although bolth are great if you have the money go for the NOOKcolor anyday! Hello! This is another person. I would recommend the NOOK to just about anyone. If you are looking for a device that holds your millions of books without hurting your eyes, than the NOOK and the KINDLE are almost the same. However the Nook is a little bit higher in price if you want 3G+Wi-fi or just plain Wi-fi. I like the Nook better, because it allows you to read like a normal book, and is organized in such a way that will be helpful and easier to find books in your library which can hold billions of books. And, yeah. I do NOT recommend the NookColor, because yes, it does hurt your eyes. So I suggest you don't get it for reading purposes.
