There is no national YMHA/YWHA association, so there are no rules. There are very few YMHAs anyway; most of the ones that used to exist changed their names to JCC. But they can do whatever they like.

What kind of brush did Michael angelo use?

He used round brushes. Fur bristles for washes and softness and most likely hog hair for a more coarse look- much like what we use today.I'm sure he used many different sizes. When he painted the Systine Chapel he used large pieces of paper with holes punched in them along the main lines of his work, They were mounted to the ceiling and then he would take cheese cloth bags filled with charcoal and slam them against the paper. The charcoal would stick to the wall through the holes so when the paper was removed, Michael had a dotted outline as a guide to paint by. The Ferrule (the metal band that holds the bristels in place) had not been invented yet. The metal in the band could be shaped flat to create what we call a stroke brush. It might interst you to know that Monet was one of the (if not the 1st) to use one of these flat stoke brushes in a style called "Touche" meaning to touch. Same french word that is used in fenceing lol.
