If the adoption was complete, you are the father of record. If you are the non-custodial parent, you should expect to pay child support.

if you are the biological father you do not pay for the children that was adopted. Their new dad does that.

Can the biological father of a child be made to pay support if he is not he legal father?

A biological father is the father of the child. A step-father is not. If the step-father has legally adopted the child that is not his when married then yes, he would have to pay support. If not married and the child is not his then no, he does not have to pay child support, but he may have to go to court to resolve the matter.

Do a man have to pay child support if he have 9 kids?

Yes. It does not matter how many children someone has fathered, one still has to pay for child support for all his children. However, in many states, child support PER CHILD is reduced because of the number of children a parent has to support. However, the total amount paid will be higher. Also, a father does not have to pay child support if his parental rights were terminated and the child was adopted by someone else.

In the state of Massachusetts if a biological father is unaware of a child and the child is adopted by his stepfather is the bio dad responsible for any back child support?

Well if the Bio father is unaware of the baby then I don't believe he has to pay child support because the mom decided that the father didn't need to know about the child and if the child is adopted (like me) either by a step dad or by a different set of parent AND the father know about the child Then the father would need to pay back child support.

If the custodial parent two children give one of the children back to the father does the father still have to pay child support for the one child that stayed with the mother or are they even?

No, the father has to pay child support for both children. Of course the child that decides to live with him will be treated as he/she were when you were both married, but the child you have will still continue to receive child support by law!

Does the biological father have to pay child support if the child is adopted?

If you're in the US, in order for the child to be adopted his parental rights had to be terminated. Once that's done, he's no longer responsible for paying future child support. But if he owes back child support, that still has to be paid.

Should a custodial mother file a child support modification when her child was legally adopted?

Who legally adopted the child? If the mother's new husband legally adopted the child, then the biological father's parental rights had to be terminated first. Which means that the biological father is NOT obligated to pay child support anymore. The new adoptive father has taken on all rights and responsibilities for the child.

You did not adopt will you have to pay child support as a presumed father?

Why are you the presumed father? Are you saying that your ex-wife adopted a child and now wants you to pay child support for that child whom you personally did not adopt? If so no, you do not owe child support for a child that is not yours. She adopted before we got married and I never attempted to adopt him after we got married a year later. After six years we are now getting divorced and wants me to pay child support. You ex-wife believes that when you married her, you became the father of her adopted child - and presumably, you did function as the child's step-father while you were married. But as far as I can tell (and I am not actually a laywer) you do not owe child support for this child, since he is not actually your child. The whole concept of child support is that men who choose to have children, or even men who accidentally father children, are financially responsible for them. But you have no responsibility here; your ex-wife already had this child before you married her. You did not in any way cause her to have the child or to be burdened with the cost of raising him. That was her choice and she did it without your help. So it seems like a clear situation to me.
