Of course it does, any straightener i have ever used (this is coming from a guy btw) is always over 160 degrees. That's 60 degrees past boiling point. It would burn right through ur arm so think about what it does to your hair. The best way is to use a protection spray or serum and a leave in conditioner. I have a tube of cream stuff that i apply after straightening on a night before bed, and it turns my hair from a frizzy mess to really nice smooth shiny hair. All i do is smooth it over my hair and then wear a beanie hat to sleep.
