Not necessarily.

As a matter of fact, nowadays you can get what are called Solid State Hard Drives, which are quite different from the old school IDE hard drives and the current standard SATA hard drives. I don't know much about Solid State Hard Disk Drives but it is my understanding that they tend to last a lot longer than both IDE and SATA. A 60 GB Solid State hard drive will cost about the same as a 500 GB SATA drive, apparently because they last longer and are better all around.

What is the solid state memory used for?

Solid State memory is the memory use in flash drives and memory cards for cameras, cell phones, etc. Now, this technology is also being used right now in hard drives, even thought they still really expensive, the reading and writing speed are way better than the current hard drive technology, plus they last longer since they are microchips and don't use any moving parts. Eventually solid state hard drives are going to substitute the current mechanical hard drives that we now use.

Do you need a memory card to save games on an Xbox 360?

You do not need a memory card to play Halo 3, it is recommended you have either a hard drive or a memory card to save games, but it is not required. It is however required to have a hard drive to download the new Heroic Map Pack, due to the size it will not fit on a memory card.

What is the advantage of having more memory for the xbox 360?

The advantages of having more memory is you can download games to the hard drive so in case the disc gets scratched and normally isn't readable will still be readable because it is downloaded to the hard drive. But if you download it to your hard drive you still need that disc you downloaded it to the hard drive with still requires it to be in the console. And the reason why they do that is so people don't buy it and sell it or take it back and get a free game. Another advantage to having more memory is you can save more of your game data and profile data. The last advantage is you can download music, videos, and game demos to it. The only disadvantage is the bigger the memory you want whether its built in the console or your buying the memory separate the bigger the memory the higher the cost of it.

Where are the changes stored until you save the documents?

When working on a document, you are working in the computer's Random Access Memory (RAM). Though very quick, RAM is a volatile memory. If you don't save your document to the internal hard drive, or to an external storage device, before turning off the computer, all is lost - the document no longer exists. If working on an important document, save to the hard drive every few paragraphs. Then, if things go wrong, you only need to begin again at your last save, and not from the beginning again. Save as you go is good advice.

Name four different storage devices?

Let's see: Harddrive Solid State Memory (RAM) Optical (DVD / CD / Etc) Memory Cards? (SD Memory / CF Memory / Etc) Technically the last would be the same as RAM, but it isn't used the same. RAM is used in most computers as temporary memory. This memory only retains information while power is provided to it. Once the power is removed then it loses everything. With a memory card type of memory such as NAND type of memory, information stored in the memory card is retained even when the power is removed (USB memory sticks / SD memory / etc).
