Are large animal vets in higher demand than small animal vets?

Vets earn more money working with smaller animals rather than large, because it is harder to operate on a smaller animal and it is harder to get an IV in a smaller animal, because it veins are smaller and harder to pin point. Basically everything is harder with a smaller animal, because you aren't used to how small the animal is. I agree, vets that work with smaller animals only get paid more because there are a lot more smaller animals than big animals, ( that vets actually treat). I also agree. It is harder to work on smaller animals. Everything is so much smaller on the them and the tools are big so it is much harder. And they are weaker than big ones so they have to treat them quickly.

This depends upon what you mean by "a lot" of money. In the United States the average veterinarian's salary for 2011 was ~US$90,000. For most people, this is a comfortable upper-middle class income that allows for nice vacations, a nice home, etc.

However, most veterinarians (unless they are savvy practice owners as well) do not become multi-millionaires.

Overall, small animal veterinarians and large animal veterinarians tend to make about the same salary. However, the range for both large animal veterinarians and small animal veterinarians is pretty large, and there is a lot of overlap between the two practice types.

A vet can make average money or more...matters how long you work. but you can make good money as a vet and spend time with the animals :)
