Once they're in place you can do all your sealing either from the inside or from the outside--on a double-hung replacement unit, you can remove both sashes and do the sealing easily and effectively. A new construction window, like a homebuilder would install in a new house, MUST be installed from the outside. Replacement windows don't have that problem.

If the glass has a coating or film, that coating may be intended to be on one side or the other, so, yes, it WOULD be possible to install the glass improperly.
If the concrete roof is on a brick load bearing wall you cannot open up the wall unless you have a concrete-steel beam below it . If you want a small door or window as opening you can open up the wall (not completely) but lay a beam under the wall for strength .
Not sure what a "upvc" is... If the window is arched, you do not need a lentil. If the soffit is right above the window you do not need a lentil. Hope this helps.
