Mediums are made of molecules. Actually, we're all made of molecules whether we are mediums or not. We require molecules to breath, to drink, to eat, and to exist. Psychic ability has no bearing on one's need for molecules.

Why does sound need a medium to transfer vibrations?

Sound means that some molecules transfer their vibrations to other molecules. So, because of this, obviously you need molecules to transfer sound.Sound means that some molecules transfer their vibrations to other molecules. In a transverse wave that travels through a medium the molecules of the medium vibrate in which direction?

The molecules vibrate perpendicular to the direction of propagation or motion.

Does molecules need to be present for sound to travel?

Sound is a wave and it needs a medium to travel through. Waves in the ocean use water as a medium. Without water, you can't have a wave. In the case of sound you need a medium, whether its solid, liquid or gas, for the sound to travel through. Hence the line, "in space, no one can year you scream." Space is a vacuum (i.e. no "molecules") so sound cannot travel.

What does medium mean in science terms?

anything with molecules, matter

What determines how well light passes through an object?

1. The configuration of the atoms or molecules in the medium 2. The composition of the atoms or molecules (the configuration of their orbitals, which determines what frequencies of light they can absorb) 3. Magnitude of the vibration of the atoms or molecules in the medium

How do you draw a picture of liquid molecules?

A liquid substance's molecules have a moderate amount of kinetic energy and still has a medium amount of intermolecular cohesion. This can be represented by drawing a group of molecules close to each other with medium length vectors.?æ

Why can sound energy not travel travel through a vacuum?

Sound waves are a vibration of molecules in the medium through which it passes. A vacuum has no medium, it is void of matter. Thus, no molecules to vibrate, no sound waves.

When the temperature wave that travel through a medium the molecules of the medium vibrate?

B. at right angles to the direction in which the wave travels

In a transverse wave that travels through a medium how do the molecules of the medium vibrate?

The quaggas of the wave, which are the midpoints, start to spasm out of control.

What is the maximum distance molecules of a medium are moved from a rest position?

AMPLITUDE

What causes the molecules in a medium to vibrate and form waves?

The transfer of energy.
