Generally speaking, no. Performance air filters are made to take slightly more air into the engine and also improve the air quality when it goes into the engine (cleaner). They can boost up to 10 horsepower in some cases, but generally it is more in the 3-5 range. If you have a REALLY dirty stock or normal air filter then get a brand new high performance air filter it MIGHT make a TINY change in the sound, but most likely too little to be noticeable if at all. Air filters can also slightly increase mileage (up to 2 mpg more maximum). Some performance air filters are good to buy because you can clean them rather than buying new ones. Overall, if you want to improve sound, go with a muffler or exhaust system. Also, sometimes an entire cold air intake system can make a slight change.
Obviously.
You can put a performance air filter in your diesel engine. Most engines have several different air filters that can be used.
Short answer: no. A clogged fuel filter can cause difficulty starting, poor performance, and inability to maintain speed. These symptoms have very little to do with fuel economy. Change the air filter instead.

More air flow but less cleaning ability. There is no advantage to using a high flow air filter in a daily driver. These only benefit a racing engine. Use a quality filter and change the Air Filter every 30,000 miles at a minimum and change the Oil filter at each oil change every 5,000 miles. Forget the 3,000 mile oil change as it is a waste of oil and money.
