If you have a pet snail, try giving it some food with water already in it (like lettuce leafs). Another good idea would be to get a plastic bottle cap (so it won't rust) or something similar. I use a checker-piece for my snails and fill it with tap water.
Also, snails like to eat other fruits and vegetables. I've heard they like apples and carrots a lot. I know my snails like carrots.
