Yes. momentum is figured out by the formula p =mv

momentum = mass (weight) x velocity

The train would have a massive amount of mass and as you can see in the formula the car (mass) would not be anywhere close to the momentum of the train.

What do you think has more momentum a moving car or a moving train?

a train because it is harder to stop than the car. source: my knowledge and i learned this in class today. peutetrebelle.tumblr.com

What is the momentun of an object?

The momentum of an object is the product of both the mass and velocity of the object. A train moving at ten miles per hour will have more momentum than a ball moving at ten miles per hour, because the train is much heavier and larger.

What is the name of the train that goes on the Canadian Pacific Railway?

there are more than one train going on it ok

Which car has the greatest momentum a bigger one or smaller one?

If they're both going the same speed, then the bigger one has the greater momentum. If they're not going the same speed, then you don't know, because the momentum involves the speed as well as the mass. If the smaller one is going fast enough, it could have more momentum than the bigger one.

Is it possible for a train to have less momentum than a squirrel?

Momentum is a measure of the force that a moving object has (due to its movement). It is in direct proportion to both the object's mass and velocity. This means a higher mass, or a higher velocity means a higher momentum.Momentum = mass * velocity (p = mv)The mass of a train is vastly more than that of a squirrel. Therefore the only time that a train would have less momentum is when it was not moving, compared to a squirrel that was moving. As soon as a train moves its momentum will be greater.(You can think of it this way: you could overcome the force of a moving squirrel with your hand, but there is no way you could stop a train this way no matter how slowly it was moving.)

Which has greater momentum an old school freight train at rest or a roller skate moving downhill?

The Roller-skate Momentum = (mass) multiplied by (speed) . Anything moving has more momentum than anything that's not moving. The thing that's not moving has zero speed, so it also has zero momentum.

Two objects each have a mass of 70 kg what is their momentum?

Momentum is a measure of how hard it is going to be to get something to stop. Big objects going fast have lot of momentum. Getting hit by a truck will hurt more than getting hit by a fly. Momentum is worked out as mass x velocity so you need to know how fast it is going aswell as how much it weighs.

How do you apply the concept of momentum to compare the mass and velocity of a slow moving train and of a high-speed bullet?

The slow moving train has a much higher mass than the high-speed bullet, but the bullet has a faster velocity than the slow moving train so their momentum is the same.

Which has a greater momentum a heavy truck at rest or a moving automobile?

The momentum of any object depends on its mass and its speed. If a car and a bike are both moving at the same speed, then the car has more momentum because it has more mass than the bike. If the car and the bike are moving at different speeds, then we need to know the speeds of each, in order to make any determination about their respective momenta.

Does a truck have more momentum than a car?

Yes. At the same velocity, a truck would have more momentum than a car as it has greater mass. Momentum is the product of mass and velocity: ρ=mv

Why is it harder to stop a train than a car when a car is going faster?

More weight behind the train therefore longer stopping time.

Which has more momentum a golf ball or a bowling ball?

A bowling ball has more momentum. You cannot throw it as fast, but a tenpin ball weighs 16 pounds and a baseball only 1/3 pound. Momentum is mass times velocity and if you throw the bowling ball at 10 mph but the baseball at 90 mph the bowling ball still has much more momentum.
