How many questions do you have to answer to get a higher in your rank on WikiAnswers?
You do not have to answer a certain amount of questions to upgrade your ranking on WikiAnswers. Any type of contribution will work to get you to the next rank. (Contribution types: messaging, editing, answering, or removing an answer, splitting and adding alternates, asking a question, and editing categories can get you contribution points. See the question "What are the various contributor levels on WikiAnswers" to see the next level you will become.
What does a quality contribution include?
There really is no specific criteria for a quality contribution. Any contribution that helps out the site of WikiAnswers, whether it be categorizing a question or minor editing a question, is considered good. Generally, however, a good quality contribution comes in the form of an answer. A good quality answer will usually be 2-3 sentences minimum and will be free from spelling or grammar errors (and hopefully false information!). That seems to be the consensus for a quality contribution, but as stated before, any contribution that helps out WikiAnswers is considered a good contribution. A good quality contribution is basically not a wasted contribution. For instance, categorizing and recategorizing the same question 10 times just to gain contribution points is not considered a "good quality contribution." However, categorizing that question properly, answering it with a well-informed answer (free from grammar and spelling mistakes), and adding a related link would count as 3 great quality contributions. Thus, any contribution that helps out WikiAnswers and is not "yes it is because i said so" as an answer, as an example, is a quality contribution.

These are simple tasks that can be preformed by bots with a good accuracy rating. These bots however can not answer questions nor can they give advice, this is where the contributor comes in to give WikiAnswers the human aspect.
