Amoxicillin may be able to treat uncomplicated cases of bronchitis, but frequent use and increased bacterial resistance in the population has made this antibiotic less useful today. Especially where the individual has had recurrent bronchitis, it would be necessary to obtain a sputum sample of mucus from the lungs in order to be able to do a culture and sensitivity which allows us to determine the specific antibiotics to which the bacteria are susceptible in your own case.

Yes. Amoxicillin is used to treat infections. For most infections in adults, the dosing regimens for Amoxicillin are 250 mg every 8 hours, 500 mg every 8 hours, 500 mg every 12 hours, or 875 mg every 12 hours, depending on the type and severity.

It depends on what bacteria caused your infection. You should not have any Amoxicillin laying around your house though, because when you have an infection you must take ALL of the antibiotics to cure ALL of the infection - stopping when you start to feel better only kills part of the infection and the rest of it lingers in your body and comes back later on stronger than ever.

You need to see a doctor if you have an infection to get the right antibiotic.

What is the recommended dosage of amoxicillin for a 110 lb boy with bronchitis?

Bronchitis is usually viral and not responsive to antibiotics. In the more unusual bacterial cases, the causes are not responsive to amoxicillin but require other antibiotics for treatment. Be responsible and see your health care provider for an appropriate treatment. Random use of antibiotics is one of the contributors to drug-reistant strains.

Maybe. Bronchitis can be either due to a virus infection or a bacterial infection. Tests will need to be done to determine which type of bronchitis you have. Antibiotics are generally used on bacterial infections, not viral.
