In general, the AED batteries only need to be recharged. The pads are single use only, you will need replacement pads before the AED can be put back into service.
Things you used to save someone's life, normally included in the AED kit, should be replaced too like gloves, mask, shaver, anti-septic wipes, etc.

You can however the real question would be if it will be enough energy to resuscitate an adult. Chances are probably not. The AED should have both of the sizes of pads inside of it. If not then it needs to be serviced by the Manufacturer.
