1. Nissans that have the SR20DE engines in them are very reliable such as the Nissan primera, Nissan sentra, Nissan pulsar the full list of cars with SR20DE engines can be found here. Parts for this engine are also really cheap, but i doubt you will need to replace any of them i a log time.I personaly have a pulsar with a SR20DE and I havnt had any problems with it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SR20DE#SR20DE2. Also Toyota corrollas are very reliable car, i know people with them that never had problems.

Ha yes timing belt breakage in any car can cause damage to the engine... things like bent valves, scored cylinder walls and possible engine failure. That is why the idea is to replace timing belts before they break.

There was a N16 recall do to with the oxygen sensor. One day the car just refused to start. RACQ arrived and the guy said it was the Oxygen sensor and so it was towed to a dealer and the sensor changed. Was alright after that.

My 1994 Nissan maxima has never chugged in any situation. But such chugging can probably happen with any car if its engine's air governing valve is malfunctioning.
