It changes the ratio between the engine rpm and the drive wheel(s) rpm.
u do distance/ time= speed
Standard transmision, 750 rpm. Automatic transmission, 600 rpm in drive.
Yes. To do so, you will need your transmission gear ratios, your differential gear ratio and your tire circumference. You can derive the tire circumference by mutliplying its diameter by 3.1416 (pi).Example: At highway speed your RPM is 2000. Say your overdrive (5th gear) is 0.84:1, your differential gear ratio is 3.73:1 and your tire circumference for a P215/75R15 is 87". First divide the RPM by the first ratio (.84) which gives you 2380 RPMS. Then divide by the differential ratio of 3.73 gives you 638.3 RPM (Wheel speed). You speed is 87"x 638.3 = 55,532 inches per minute or 52.6 MPH.Hope that helps!
The gear ratio for top gear is chosen to produce maximum speed, which occurs at a speed where the engine's maximum power is take up with maintaining a constant speed (on the level). For cars the overall ratio for top gear is 3.5 to 4.5 : 1. For example, if the engine's maximum power is 100 bhp at 6300 rpm, and that power can drive the car at the maximum speed of 110 mph, the overall ratio is chosen to give 6300 rpm at 110 mph.
That depends on the rear axle ratio. 2500 rpm ?That depends on the rear axle ratio. 2500 rpm ?
Automatic is about 750 rpm's, Standard is about 700 rpm's. You want the rpm's to drop to about 700 when you put the auto tranny in gear, that is why there is a difference between the standard and auto. It is expected that if you have a standard you will throttle up a little to start off. These are ball park #'s and are true for just about any older model vehicle. I should also mention that you should set your idle speed with the engine at operating temp. If you have an automatic choke the rpm's will drop when the choke opens.
depends on gas or diesel i think i would want the 3.73 in the diesel for more rpm vs speed out of the low rpm cummins plus has plenty of power. 4.10 with the gas for heavy loads.
we know motor rpm, gearbox ratio, gear spoket no of teeth, conveyor pully spoket no of teeth and conveyor pully O.D. Exm- we have a motor of 1500 rpm, gearbox ratio 30:1, gear spoket no of teeth 24, conveyor spoket no of teeth 48, and conveyor pully (head pully) od is 200 mm, Solu- motor speed- 1500 rpm gear output - 1500/30 = 50 rpm conveyor pully rpm - 24*50/48 = 25 rpm conveyor pully cercumfrance - 200*3.14 = 628 mm or 0.628 meter conveyor speed - 25*0.628 = 15.700 meter per menuts
. "The ratio of the number of teeth on the ring gear and the starter drive pinion gear is usually between 15:1 and 20:1. This means the starter motor is rotating 15 to 20 times faster than the engine. Normal cranking speed for the engine is about 200 rpm. If the starter drive had a ratio of 18:1, the starter would be rotating at a speed of 3,600 rpm. If the engine started and was accelerated to 2,000 rpm, the starter speed would increase to 36,000 rpm. This would destroy the starter motor if it was not disengaged from the engine."
